ICP Desired vs Actual
Hi all quick ICP value related question.
After a single [my first on this particular truck] no start warm occurrence that was cured by wiggling the wiring harness at the ICP and IPR I started logging some data with livelink to see if maybe something would show up to give direction. Everything looked good at cranking with ICP hitting 4k-5k in under a second at about 250 rpm. But when I log WOT data I'm seeing ICP desired setting at 32k and actual bounce to 24k then falling off to 21.5k and holding there. ![]() ICP duty cycle is showing maxed at .848 the whole time WOT with desired fuel mass resting at 98. Rest of the power range the ICP desired and ICP actual track about right on. No other issues to speak of [long as I keep it tuned 50hp or lower to stave off coolant belching]... The truck is an 04 that just rolled over 98k, it's going in for a full EGR delete this week [long overdue]. Should I be looking for high pressure leaks and replacing the high pressure pump now or is the discrepancy on ICP under WOT within normal parameters? If anyone is interested, I have the data logs and screenshots from livelink I can toss up. Thanks -Ken |

If its a tune, it could be demanding more ICP pressure than the system can actually do.

That's what I have read after some further searching.. I guess I'll return it to stock and compare the levels agian.
If my calculations are correct, 21500 kpa = 3118 psi and 32000 kpa = 4641 psi, so it's asking for 1500 PSI more than than it getting. Anyone know what the rated max output of the hpop is right off? |

Pretty sure they top out around 3300-3600 psi, so yours sounds fine.

Kewl, thanks much.
Guess now I can invest in some gauges [like EGT] if I don't do the pump. Will probably frighten me if I can actually see the ^ temps. Back to drive it like I stole it mode. :-) |

From Ford literature - You can get as high as 4045 psig at max engine load. There is also a relief valve in the IPR that opens at 4000 psig IIRC.
