Sounds different after HG install
Had my cab off last week and replaced head gaskets, everything went perfectly. Got the truck back on the road and the "knock" of the diesel is noticeably different, louder. I thought I was crazy but then the last 3 people in my truck asked why its soo loud. The only thing that changed was I had the heads milled, they took off about .008. Thats not enough to change any compression or engine harmonics is it? No CEL and runs great, checked all maniford bolts and everythings tight. And yes I understand its a DIESEL and thier loud but I spend alot of time in my truck and I know what it sounds like.

I had my trucked studded and I felt like it sounded a little different also, but I had blown head gaskets, so it made since to me since everything was functioning normal

My HG's are def not blown. From what I gather its comming from the driver side so tomorw I am goin to take the valve cover off and take a peek at the internals, make sure somethin isnt broken. If it was broke I dont think it would run as well as it does.

Probably leaky up-pipes or turbo exhaust clamp

FIXED! This sounds crazy but the mysterious ticking sound was comming from the EGT probe line. If you grab the steel braided part of it you can feel a steady pulse going through it. I had the majority of it zip-tied up under the dash to a metal brace. Pulled it all into the engine compartment and problem solved.
