trailer plug?

has anyone rewired your trailer plug so it is hot with the key off?

the reason for the question is that my fuel transfer tank (105 gal) i have a trailer plug on the pump, so instead of popping the hood and attaching alligator clips to the battery we just plug into trailer plug on the truck.
works great on the dodge, but on a ford the key has to be on power the plug, and i'm pretty sure thats how i damaged my ficm, leaving the key on to transfer 100 gal. of fuel in 0`f temps.

i haven't checked the wiring diagram to see where the connection is made in the fuse block yet, but was wondering if anyone has done this
