2005 cab light installed but i can not find the factory plug
I have had a busy 10 days, i replaced 1 fuel injector and did the egr bypass kit. Only issue is my oil pressure gauge does not work. Does anyone know where the sensor is located on the motor? Maybe i knocked a wire off while i was fighting the turbo.
My cab light issue- I got the cab lights installed but i can not find the factory plug. I bought a used set of lights off of ebay and they were suppose to have the factory plug but did not arrive with it. Who ever removed them just cut the wires. Anyway i can not find where the factory plug is located on my 2005. The cab lights have 2 wires one is purple/white and the other black. Can i wire these into the back of the factory light switch and if so what color wire do i splice into on the factory headlight switch? Or am i just overlooking the factory plug? I do not mind making a trip to the ford house and buying a new wiring harness for the lights. Behind the passenger side kit panel i do have 1 open plug with like 8 wires going into it with nothing plugged in. I did a check and did not find a hot wire in the group. Thanks. |

The OEM plug in for the cab lights is behind the passenger side kick panel right in front of the door. Sounds like you found it.

The factory plug is in the passenger kick panel like mentioned. It is a larger plug with many wires. If I remember I will pop off the kick panel tomorrow and get the color of the wire I tapped into for my cab lights.

Does anyone know what wire to tap into on the light switch by the steering wheel if your using the recon harness?

If you tap into the light switch use the brown wire, if you look straight onto the wire connector it is on the right side. The brown wire is hot in the parking light and light switch position. The red wire with yellow streak is hot only with the head lights on.
I ended up splicing into the head ligt switch with my cab lights. Ford house did not have the factory harness in stock and my plug was damaged. They found a harness 90 miles away for 40 bucks and i said never mind. Wired it into the switch for free. Did the idle mod to the #4 upfitter switch while i was there. COOL!! |
