Better cold start when i dont run the plugs?

Maybe its just me, but does anyone have an explanation for this?

When i start my truck on a cold morning, if i leave the key turned (leave the plugs running for a while after the idiot light goes off), i feel like my truck starts up a little rough. Even if i turn the key once and let the plugs run for a bit (30 seconds, lets say), then i turn the key off and on again to run the idiot light one more time, it still seems to start up more rough

When i turn the key just long enough for the dummy light, say two or three times, it seems like the truck starts a lot better....

any explanation for this? or am i

depending on engine temp the glow plugs with continue to be energized once the light goes off up to I believe 180 seconds. the gpcm will determine the length of on time. can't really explain your deal though.
