I've driven a mini cooper with the CVT trans and I HATE it. It has no feel at all. There are no true gears so you loose the feeling of a nice firm shift and hard acceleration. It's like riding a snowmobile versus a clutch sport quad.

I hope they improved that with the IVT. It's a great idea it just needs to be refined.

...ive never driven a cooper, but ive been on snowmobiles all winter long and dirt bikes all summer since i was 2. IMHO it takes some getting used to sure, but once you do its awesome

Same here. I race MX on my quad and we have three sleds. Just got a Polaris with the 4 stroke turbo in it. It's sick.

I just prefer the feeling of actual gears but you're right, once you get used to it, it can be nice.

I drove an Audi with basically a snowmobile transmission in it. I would stay at like 2300 RPM through the gears but when I got on it it would rev to like 7000 and stay there.

It is giong to feel odd. but... with the right programing this is going to surpass any trans. if they do it right.
