a question or two about glow plugs

ok so I have a couple questions about glow plugs. I went to the international dealership by my house to get some glowplugs and the parts guy wouldn't sell them to me because of the horsepower difference of the VT365 and the PSD. The VT was in a 175 and 195hp versions and my PSD is 320hp

is there any truth to his worry?

So, I proceeded to call my Ford dealership and I asked the parts guy to look up the glowplugs for me and he said yeah we have 'em but why are you changing them? so i told him i'm going to be doing my headgaskets and I was planning on doing them while I had easy access to do them. And he told me, it's probably not necessary cause they work on a lot of 6.0's day in and day out and that they never need to change them on any of the trucks.

Is there any truth to what the parts guy told me?

thanks for your help
