Front end trouble?
Hi everyone, I have a 2003 F-250 6.0 4x4, I am hearing & can feel a "clunk" when i go over bumps and also when I put on the brakes it will sometimes clunk when I am almost stopped. I have crawled around under the front end and cant find anything loose.I pulled and wiggled everything I could find as far as tie rods ect. go and everything seems fine. It seems to be on the drivers side and when it happens i can feel it on the floor. I jacked up the truck and tried to wiggle the tire and everything seems ok there! Any idea's would be appreciated big time.I just wanted to try and fix it myself if I could before I make the trip to the dealer, or at least know what the problem is before I bring it in. Thanks!

The usual suspects are ball joints, sway bar end links, and the slip yolk

I would 100% agree w/ above post. My ball joints went out loooooong ago (ford did replacement greasable style) and i just recently did my sway bar bushings and link bushings. guess what, no more 'clunky'....
the bushing thing is $50 or less and u can do it yourself. but if not too mechanically inclined i would say the dealer is your stop for the joints.. good luck |

Thanks for the information, and all your help!

I'd also check the wheelbearings and sometimes the spindle needles or something go out.
