Air intake system?

Im wanting to buy a new intake and im stuck on the banks ram air intake and the afe stage 2 xp? Anyone out there with some input on these?

Your probably not going to like the replies you will get. But the consensus with most of the forums is that Air intakes or elbows are a waste of money unless you want the bling factor. Realize that your current stock air intake system will flow enough cfm to provide air to your engine up to 550 hp. Might as well save your money and put it towards another mod that will benefit your truck. Just saying.

I know some that will go with an aftermarket system just to making the air cleaner removal easier.

Just as mentioned above, the stock intake will handle up to 500HP and is good to go for most people. I didn't have this piece of advice and bought an airaid cold air system and installed it. It made a slight difference in power, no real major difference. I also did the zoodad mod on my truck at the same time and the combo of the two helped lower my EGTs and also helped my turbo spool up a lot faster. And along with the nice spool up there is an increase in whistle too! I've heard all these things are benefits of the zoodad. Since I did both at the same time, I'm not sure which helped the most.

Like Calkidd said it is way easier to get to my filter to clean now. Its your call

Yea I sure wish I would of never bought a CAI, I did not know this information back when I got my truck... DONT waste your $$$ would be my opinion.

I'd stay stock. If you can't do that pass on the banks. The actual filter is not that great.

Don't waste your money. Pick up a new oem (Donaldson) air filter dieselfiltersonline...etc... Do the Zoodad mod, and clean your CAC tubes and clean or replace your CAC tube boots (where I'd spend the money....replacement CAC boots (BD Power)).
