Well does the truck smoke at all when you accelerate heavily

Not to hijack the thread, I don't even know either. But when I take off especially with it being so dam cold the car disappears behind me.... kind of funny!!!
Would that be a aftermarket exhaust? I also have a K&N in take under the hood also. Is that stock or aftermarket? |

stock exhaust dia is 3.5". also the stock tuning does not blow much smoke if none at all. i would look to see if you have a cat and muffler. i run a 4" straight pipe no cat or muff and it souds like a jet. that sound is the turbo whistling. the k&N intake is not stock, and i would highly suggest you get rid of it, it lets to much dirt in. if you guys are blowing alot of black smoke i would say you definitely have aftermarket tuning installed.

What do you guys mean by aftermarket tuning installed? Tuner? I don't have anything in my truck for tuning.... have been looking at getting one but don't have a tuner at all in my truck.
Also I knew someone would tell me to get rid of the K&N, just the filter or the whole thing. Getting rid of the whole thing is not really a option at this time, but I will replace the filter if someone suggests one. Thanks. |

afe or s&b are better filtration devices. but nothing i have seen trumps the factory setup. the bad news is. if you have aftermarket tuning and you want to add a flash style tuner then you will have to have the truck reflashed by the dealer. if you have aftermarket tuning and you get a module type tuner be prepared for drivability issues. i prefer flash tuning as it does a better job. if you blow alot of black smoke while driving and have a clean air filter then yes you probably have a some tuning done to your truck.

Whoops, I meant smoke I meant exhaust smoke, not black smoke. Should have clairfied that one.
So then my truck might not be tuned at all, just lots of exhaust smoke because it's so cold out!!! Been looking at getting a Edge Insight for the guages aspect of it and looking at getting a SCT tuner down the road. All the injectors were replaced on my truck just before I bought it at a dealership, so would they have not put the lastest flash in when they did that? |
