Questions on buying a 6.0L
Hey everyone,
Looking to get rid of the 2006 Cummins to buy a Powerstroke (2000-2006 year)......don't like owning a vehicle from a bailed out company. My questions are: What are the differences between the years? I know they went to the 6.0 in late 2003. I also know they changed the interior in 2005. Didn't they change the front suspension in 2005 or 2006? They went to the 5 speed auto sometime in there too. Any other differences? What are the problems with the 7.3 & 6.0 engines? I know the 7.3 is preferred but why? I like the newer interior and am going to try to find a Harley edition but that leaves me with the 6.0. What are the problem areas? What should I look for when buying one? Chassis problems, leaks, etc? thanks everyone |

They made several changes in the 6.0. The turbo is different in 05+, they egr cooler is different in 05+, and the newer truck you buy the better the chance you will still have factory warranty so if there are problems they will take care of it.

So every 05 will have the upgrades? I don't have to worry about any midyear stuff do I?

Yeah you should be fine with any 05+ but the 03 turbo is more desirable because it has a loud whistle due to the fact that they have a different amount of vanes.
