need help for maintenance
I am not a mechanic and have bought a 2005 F250 6.0L diesel with 89000 miles and read about all the problems with this model. It seems to me that this truck is only for people with a mechanic background who are able to make this truck reliable themselfs. I would like to travel to Alaska next summer but having read posts in this forum I feel now not secure with this truck. I just need to have a reliable truck and can not go into it to enhance or make it more reliable myself. I think I just need an experienced mechanic who is really trained on this 6.0L diesel. Is there somewhere a recommendation for really knowledgable mechanics for this motor in or near Colorado Springs?
Thank you for your help. |

You have Elite Diesel up there in CO. The great thing about your new aquisition is that it is a vehicle that you learn to appreciate. I bought mine because I loved the sound of a diesel, loved the way Ford made her look and knew I needed something that I could tow my 32ft RV...simple right? I took her to the dealer for her sked maintenance, bought the cheapest fuel I could find and life was good. That changed. The 3 "F"'s Filters, Fluids, and Fuel. Then I realized that I have a truck that could actually be improved on and that I could actually do most of the work..."I emphasize Most"...Surely there are things that without the right training, experience, knowledge, and proper tools that you just can't do. But there is so much you can. You're at the right place here on the .Org and FTE...you can gather as much free knowledge and experience as you want. Sometimes with pictures....hint, hint. Enjoy your new experience to these trucks....they are dependable. You just have to take good care of her. I think its fun learning...I learn something new every day about my truck. Some good and some not so good. But you can't worry that you made a bad decision...they're too many on the road...which tells me, we got a good thing. Find any other vehicle you can drive for over 700,000 miles..
