05 F-350 Question
Hello All,
I'm looking at buying an 05 F-350 SRW and just wanted to get some feedback on them. I currently own an 01 7.3l 6-Spd that I have had no problems with and in need of a newer automatic truck. I've been test driving the 05 and really like the truck. I know that the glow plugs need to be replaced, it was 20 here this morning and the truck started rough and missing. Warmed up and was fine. While driving to work, at highway speed with cruise on is seemed to slightly shudder until it was really warm. Any thoughts? I don't have any experience with the 6.0 and depending on who I ask around here they love it or hate it. Just looking for more opinions before I decide to buy. Thanks. Justin |

Is it still under 100k miles? (still under engine warranty)
Don't know that you're seeing bad glow plugs. Mine got hard to start, had to crank it three or four seconds, missing on one cyl for about a minute when it was real cold, and started hesitating a bit on the road when I'd push the pedal just a little, right before the HPOP seal blew. That was covered under the engine warranty. Since I got it back, it fires right up. No more missing, no hesitation. Otherwise, I love this 06. They revised the front suspension in 05, rides a lot nicer and turns tighter. Amazes me how smooth a 1 ton truck can ride, not like the ones I used to drive on a farm when I was a kid. They'd rattle your teeth out. |

I'm new to the 6.0's so don't know about the glow plug thing. After reading some posts in the problems area there are several things it could be I guess. It's no longer under factory warranty. Its got 108000 miles on it. I'm going to talk to the selling dealer about making sure whatever it is that its taken care of. Other than that I am really impressed with it.

If it is at a dealer, see if they can get the extended warranty - 200k miles or 7 years. Don't know if you can get it once it's past 100k, and it's usually $2200-2500.
Time for some sharp negotiating... |
