How many volts does it take when plugged in?

Kinda funny but got me thinking....I got to my parents house tonight and decided I would plug my truck in just because I could and next thing I knew half of my parents Christmas lights shorted out. I know the outlet was already about at its limit because of the lights but it got me wondering how much it takes for the block heater...

A block heater pulls alot of juice, make sure you use a heavy drop cord.
