Buying a 6.0 with a history?
First off, Wanted to say Hello!
A friend of mine has offered to sell me his 2005 f350 6.0L, but after doing a little research, I am a bit skeptical. I know that he has had the head replaced as well as injectors while it was still under warranty, but now @ 150k, I believe the warranty is expired. I am wondering if: A) you think that this is a good deal B) are the problems most likely fixed, or is this just a problem waiting to happen? The truck his extended can (4 full doors), extended bed, 4x4, SRW, fully loaded (leather, etc). and I have gotten him down to $13K. thanks |

Has this trk had any mods done like egr delete/bypass, head studs, if not those are things to look forward to, and at 150k has the fuel system been serviced regularly if not that can cause injector problems. yes this trk is past the 100k powerstroke warranty. good luck

I know he was very good about regular maintenance, and no mods what so ever.
Any one know where/ able to provide an Oasis report? Vin # 1FTWW31P75EB08194 |

Also I guess I'm wondering, is it worth looking at (good deal) or am I better off to take the money and get a 7.3L?

looks like this trk has been through the ringer. I would probably pass on this one. I would buy a 6.0 that has the egr delete done and possibly head studs, or another option is the famous 7.3L unless you can find one in your price range still under warranty. JMO

Thanks Jlynch for running that!
So its probably not a case where "everything has been fixed and there's nothing else to go wrong"? The guy is almost like a father to me and I trust him when he says he wouldn't sell me a truck that he didn't feel comfortable was going to be reliable... not to say he's a mechanic, or has any idea whats going on with the truck, just that he's not trying to get rid of his problems. |

not a problem

Buy it if its a deal. If not, there are 6.0s without this level of history and less miles.
