5w-40 from 15w-40 WOW

well my truck has been annoying me with it's clatter on cold start so I decided with all the chatter about injectors and snake oil I would just try a 5w-40. What a HUGE difference in the way the truck idles and starts. It is in the 30s here so not super cold. The difference is NIGHT AND DAY. And the 15w-40 synthetic I drained out only had a little over 1000 miles on it. I used the 5w-40 full synthetic Motorcraft since it was free from the dealer. I am absolutely amazed and very pleased with the difference. Any one still running 15w-40 needs to quit and get on the 5w-40 train.

They had to do an oil change as part of a service they did, no special secret sorry. I was just smart enough to say hey, I want 5-40.

How would that oil hold up in the searing heat of Phoenix in the summer?

Great the hot weight is the same 40. And going to a full synthetic if you aren't using one already will help with the heat too.

I too did the switch. Very happy. Doubt I'll ever switch back. Cold starts are so much easier and the truck seems to all around run better.
