A friend asked if he could borrow my truck to move some furniture and things to his new house. I said okay, being like I always am, just a nice guy. (in no way was that a plug for me... i'm just someone who loves to help others when they need it). In return I got his 03 Z06 Vette. Nice car- but cheaper than my truck dollar for dollar (by 20,000
). So the day goes on. I take care of his car, run through the gears a bit, but never killed it at all. About 5 I get a call- "hey nate, I'm done with the truck. You can come get it whenever." I head over because no matter how nice of a ride I'm in- I want MY truck back. I missed it SOOO much!! I get in- my stereo doesn't turn on. "oh- about that!" He hit a bump hard enough to knock a wire off of the relay terminal underneath my box..?!?! How fast was the idiot driving?!! All I get is sorry's, of course. So I had to wait till today to find that out. When I get it running again (the system), the door speakers are blown. Boston Pro Series 6.5" speakers. They are just pushing out noise, but no "sound" if that makes sense. White noise with lyrics, so to say. I just found that out about 30 minutes ago- i'm pissed!! I gave him back his car with a full tank (of premium) and in almost better condition than he had. Nothing was broken at all in his car- I mean, it's just ridiculous. I'm sorry I'm venting- but I guess I'm just upset at a friend, who now needs to show character. I'm learning a lesson- but boy is it a hard one. What would .org do?! -nate |

umm.....u should confront him about the speakers and see if he will pay or go take the money for the speakers off the car (one or two tires should cover it)...........but the way i really am i would probaly just replace the speakers and go on with life and never lend him the truck again

I would have found time in my schedule to drive my truck for him to help him move things. If someone comes to me and says hey can I borrow this. I say what you need done. Ok this is when I am available to do it for you.
Why am I like this. I had a buddy borrow my chainsaw and brought it back to me with burnt rings because he forgot to mix the oil and gas together properly. |

That is exactly why I don't let anybody drive my truck! I have been down that road before. If you need to move something with the truck, it comes with a driver that must be paid in :beer2:
! Nobody :burnout :burnout in my truck unless it's me. Your friend needs a lesson in manners and his (insert donkey synonym here) needs to be introduced to your foot.In all seriousness, I would call him out on it. Every time that I have been faced with this sort of situation and didn't make them answer for it, the friendship more or less ended anyway. Tell him how you feel and see if he's a standup guy. It doesn't sound like the kind of friend that you need. |

I am real funny about my truck, if that happened to me his car would probably look something like this.

That is the problem with so many people today!
First of all, I would never ask to borrow someone elses vehicle. But if I did, I would be beepbeepbeepbeeped sure to return it as you did. It would most likely be cleaner and have more fuel in it than it did before I asked for it.
There are not too many people that I would trust to take my truck. So far, in a year and a half....my wife has driven it once and other than me, no one has driven it. Hey, it was nice of you dude but people just don't respect other peoples stuff in this day and age, like they used too, unfortunately. hows the weather up there? : ) |

man that sucks....... you no its kinda weird how a freind will just take your beepbeepbeepbeep out and traeat it like he prolly did and then return it to you in that shape..... beepbeepbeepbeep i would have returned it to you washed and filled up....... i dont let any one drive my truck unless im with them.... the only person i would prolly lend me truck to is my grandfather just cuz he has done some manythings for me

I am afraid that I have to agree with most of the above...
#1 I would confront the "friend" about the incident, and the damage. (Friend is in quotes, because a real friend would never treat a friend's equipment that way. #2 Take this lesson to heart, and adopt the policy that you go with your truck. It may not always make sense.. but I'd rather donate my time for multiple days than to let someone else take my truck... I'm very particular that way. My truck is not highly modded, but the mods I have are not easy to "turn off" and therefore make my truck a little different to drive... I don't trust most people to drive it without me there. |
