My clean coolant solution

So after being a member of this forum for six years and ownig my truck for 4 years. I feel my solution for having clean coolant might be best!
This is what I did;
Started with the original coolant (Ford gold) 260,000 kilometers.

-Installed and IPR coolant filter.

-Drove for 500 miles.

-Cleaned filter

-Drained antifreeze and replace with cat ELC and distilled water.

-I was highly against flushing with chemicals or doing any sort of flush once so ever. For fear plugging up oil cooler.

-My Delta was 8 last summer and is still 8 today.

-I have cleaned my IPR filter three times now the dirtiest was the first time and is getting cleaner as I go!

-I will watch my Delta's like a hawk and as they creep up I'll change out the oil cooler. At that point my coolant should be spotless.

Coolant filter. I think it's the best coolant filter on the market!

wow,
looks like oil to me ! You said you replaced with CAT ELC. what color is it? (cuz normally it's red or orange)

yours looks like used oil.

(don't take this the wrong way, the pic may just be deceiving)

Like the one above me said, don't take this the wrong way, but that looks
like rust along with some oil.

Coolant I hope, cause it's inline with the heater core! Yes kinda gross! The remnants of Ford gold and casting sand in the picture. The other times I cleaned it was more red and less dirt, rust.

So you like to stir the pot!

You probably like to stir the ANTIFREEZE as well into the oil cooler! Lol

But seriously I feel IF your cooler is marginal,I say don't flush! Clean with the IPR filter and give the gold back to ford. Why do a cooler in an emergency because after your flush, the cooler plugged?

I now have 1 year since this procedure was done. No cost for a cooler nor the extra labour.

Lots of guys on here have had coolers temp rise up after their major flush. I didn't want to be in that club!
Oh ya as my buddy says "a Good mechanic is a lazy one". I don't follow this rule. The wrench usually goes in my hand before I open the hood!

I had tons of rust in mine, took a hand full of by pass filters to clean it all out.

My ipr filter was worse than that the first few times I cleaned it, it's definitely a nice filter I'll give them that.
It hasn't been on my truck for a couple years now though, because I running a bpd oil cooler, while clean coolant is still important, coolant will never clog my oil cooler.
