Rules for Registering out of state diesel in CA
Hi all.
I was wondering if anyone knew the rules for importing(or in my case buying the care instate from a Marine that has it registered out of state) into CA. After a brief online search, the only information I found was that it needs to have more then 7501 miles, and this has slightly more than that... actually about 88k more than that ![]() So in either case, I was wondering if there were anything special I need to do. The vehicle I am looking at has an edge programmer and turboback which I think may cause problems, but since smog isnt required(right now) I'm unsure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian |

When mine was brought into CA, it was just a matter of going to the DMV, filling out the forms, paying them and installing the new plates. I suspect it will get harder next year with the new smog BS.

Did you need to get it inspected? The DMV said something about EPA stickers and safety stickers.
