Pre fuel filter

Anybody have an idea of the micron rating of the fuel filter down on the frame of an '06 Powerstroke? This is 2nd time I've replaced fuel filters from a "Water in Fuel" warning light (41K miles) and I don't like to lay on my back receiving a face full of diesel.

I have a Vormax filter and would like to install it downstream of the fuel tank and upstream of the fuel module on the frame. I need micron rating of standard Ford filter (FD-4604) so I can purchase Vormax filter of same rating and conceivably never have to drain the module and replace filters again; except the Vormax, which is easy to get to along with bowl to drain water.

Anyone?

First fuel filter is 10 micron. Water removal efficiency is 96.5% or greater. Secondary fuel filter filters out 98% of particles 4 microns and bigger according to Ford. Racor rates the secondary fuel filter at 2 microns. Racor rates the fuel filters flow at 34 gph.

you dont have to replace the filter everytime you get the light . and there is a tsb for corrosion on the water in fuel sender , includes a reflash and $39 sensor board .

dont you just drain the water when you see the light??

As I Ride through the valleys of SUVs and riceburners, I shall fear no evil, for torque and positraction are mine. Mine eight rods, eight pistons and diesel power, they comfort me. For therein lies mine power, and glory, and salvation, forever

Yes, just drain the water, don't replace the filter every time you see the light.
