Color Match

So those of you who color matched your door handles and mirrors how did you do it. They told me at the body shop that they cant paint the ones that are on there now because of the texture of them, and that it wouldn't really hold up. I was thinking of maybe buying the chrome ones and then just having them painted white to match since there already smooth. Any thoughts would be great, im just looking for an economic way to do this.

I used excursion door handles since they come painted from ford that way. You could also get ones off a sport, harley, outlaw, and king ranch's. All of those come painted from ford as well. Also some of the trucks come with the outer cap of the mirror painted, you might be able to buy just the caps from ford.

ExtremeFord4x4 : best looking blacked out ford i have seen by the way

Thanks for the advice, I have looked for king ranch ones on ebay with no luck. I will try excursion, oulaws, and the others you said now and see if i find any. I did inquire with ford about getting new handles and mirrors from them but its quite expensive.

hypersnyper694788's, thanks I like your f250 as well. I know ford use to sell them painted to match but it was kind of pricey though. I will keep an eye out for some.

If there is a way to sand the chrome off, I can see it working.

Its triple plated . I was thinking of scuffing it up and priming it first. Any painters out there know a way to get it done?

you dont need to buy any new mirror covers or new door handles. I color matched the black textured door handles that came on my truck. Take off the door handles have the shop prep, sand then primer the handles. Let primer dry then wet sand the handles till they are smooth, then have the shop paint them as usual. How I know this. I own a body shop and have 2 guys that have been doing paint and body work for about 20 years. We usually charge about 175$ to color match handles on trucks.

heres a picture color matched handles and mirror covers.
