ebay oil coolers?
I am going to do an egr delete, cleaning turbo, and coolant filter. I figured while I'm in there I should replace the oil cooler. I was looking on ebay at oil coolers and some are 200 which I assume is just the main inside part and some are 500 with the housing. Do I need a new housing or can I just clean or hot tank mine and check for cracks?

I bought one of the Ebay cooler kits (Ford OEM part) - the difference is the $200 kit is the heat exchanger and gasket - the HE is what commonly fails. The housing typically is fine as its just a shell. I'm also doing the EGR delete (DIY article on here), new oil cooler (internals), 4" turbo back kitty delete, new Head gaskets, ARP studs, heads milled, new valve stuff (valves messed up), pyro probe installed, new radiator, I think that is it.
Hot tank it and replace the internals. Save $300. |
