Average Life of the 6.0L

Just curious to see what kind of mileage you are all getting out of your 6.0L. If you can include what mods(if any) you have done to your truck.

You can get a lot of miles with a 6.0l. Maintenance is the key though. I have 221k on mine.

Great topic. I think there is an earlier thread but who cares, it is a discussion board!

What do you sugest to keep these engines alive? I have ran a 5.0 (302) Ford well into the 200k mark by just changing the oil and beating her hard when I had her out..

For a 6.0, EGR fix, oil changes, fuel lubricacant....what else?

I am tuned with an exhaust, and only have 46K on my 2004. its been a great truck. like mentioned before, maintenance is key with these motors.

My buddy does not take care of his stuff, lets the oil changes slip to well over 10,000 miles using whatever the cheapest oil he can and he has over 300,000 miles. He runs a 5inch exhaust with no cat or muffler and a K&N intake. The only thing on the 6.0 he has replaced was the FICM.

the 6.0 is like a high maintnence *****. just keep throwing $$$ at it and she'll treat u right for a long time lol
