i got a buddie that gave me some amsoil 5w40 deo that is the new cj-4 specific oil, all i can find out is that it meets and exceeds the requirements of ci4 and ci4+, is it safe to run it in my 6.0 for this winter or should i get premium blue extreme or mobil 1. my local napa is selling the premium blue extreme for $24 a gallon

It's ok to use in your truck. However, there was a test done a while back and it showed the premium blue extreme outperformed the amsoil by two categories....the study is on this forum ...i think its the diesel oil comparison test. But since you got the Amsoil for free I would use it!!

CJ-4 is the EPA's successor to the CI-4 rated oil...we will all probably see fewer CI-4 rated oil sitting on the shelf in the future. You can use either one...CJ-4 is more than recommended for the 2008 MY and newer. You can find CI-4 rated Mobil1 5w-40 Syn Heavy Duty Diesel at Wally world for $22 a gal.
