Is 2003 6.0 the worst year?

I'm new to the diesel world and I am getting ready to start looking for a powerstroke. I have talked to some people that have had diesel's all their lives, and they say to stay away from the 2003 6.0. This is a big reason why I wanted to get a diesel, because of the loudness of the turbo on that model.

I have a 2003 6.0. Its been great besides the FICM going out.

Well the 2003 is the begging year for the 6.0 so all the bugs haven't been worked out. The later years would be better. Depends on your deal too

My '03 has been great. Just make sure it was taken in for a recall when they reprogrammed the FICM. You can easily tell by a sticker in the engine bay just behind the top of the grille. But man let me tell ya, even on my stock exhaust, the turbo SCREAMS!

I'm sure you have thought about this, but if all you're after is the exhaust sound you can put a 2003 turbo on any of the 2003-2007 trucks.

Id rather have an 03 than any other year. Mine beens good but FICM going out now I think and its already had the new program done on it.

How do you know your FICM is going out?

I have a 2004 but the early build so it is a 2003 137XXX miles.Only thing i have done to the motor is change oil and replace 1 injector love it daily driver no worries what so ever!!!!!
