Difference between WIX 57311 and WIX 57312?

What's the difference between the two filters besides one has a housing built on to the filter and the other uses the stock cap? I've compared them and can find no differences and I can't get ahold of my WIX rep. I know my truck takes the 57311 and I've been using the 57312...

I use the wix filters and i was reading the instructions and it says not to use the one with the cap built in on the trucks with the fixed stand pipe in the oil filter housing. From what i understand the oil will not filter properly. I think the 2003 and 2004 years have the fixed stand pipe.
