Valvoline premium blue 5w40 synthetic
Just changed to valvoline to try it. Runs very similar to mobile one 5w40 synthetic. I love it. Engine is smooth, and quiet.

How many miles on your engine? I assumed 5/40 would be too thin, was always told 15/40 Rotella. Interested in synthetic, but also scared of the $$$. You remember how much for 15 qts?

I bought 4 gallons at $23.00 per gallon at napa. Then took it to a local oil change place, they changed my oil for $30.00 and fuel filters for $59. So my oil change was about 130.00. Get an oil bypass filter and it will pay for itself and save you $$. I don't run a bypass because I don't know how it would affect my warranty. I love synthetic oil.

Mine was definitely not 18$ or on sale. I will call napa to verify this. Maybe California is different considering every damn thing costs more here

What weight is everyone running? I was thinking 5 was a bit low.
Definitely interested in trying synth. I want this truck to last! |

Use 5w40. It's thinner, will give better performance and slightly better fuel mileage. Use Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w40 or Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40. The Mobil 1 is $21 bucks per gallon at walmart...I just got four gallons yesterday at the walmart in North Austin, TX. Napa is your best bet for the Valvoline. Either is great....Mobil 1 is slightly more expensive and what I use the most
