bad turbo????

well the last month or two id say, when i start my truck in the morning it takes a about 15-20 seconds before i hear the turbo start to spool. now about 2-3 seconds after initial start i get oil pressure like normal and as soon as that used to happen i can hear the turbo come on. now after 20 seconds like i said there is a lil screatching sound then here comes the "jet" note from the exhaust. i change my oil 2500-3500 miles and use rotella for the most part and wix filter. i did use delo this past oil change but this symptom happend before i changed oil anyway. any thoughts???

pull the intake tube and see if you can spin the wheel without any resistance

it spins freely and once it comes on all is well. builds boost fine and runs fine. idk

any play in the shaft... up, down, in, out???

very very very minimal. guess i could always find a 03 turbo or just get this one rebuilt.

when you move it around does it hit the sides at all...

just an idea. could it need to be cleaned? sticky vanes?

but what would cause the squeel??? are you sure its comming from the turbo...

ya. its engine idle then squeal for about as long as it takes to snap your fingers then the nice roar of jet exhaust. but only first start in morning. through out the day nothing. just in the a.m.
