Winter Questions
I need some help to decide what I want/need. I am looking to buy a used truck either a 2005-06 150 or 250 crewcab. Personally I want a diesel because I would love the extra power (so would my right foot) and maybe extra mpg but that don't really matter. My Uncle has a 2000 7.3 and he says that the heater in the cab won't put out heat from just idling for a long period. Ice won't get defrosted nothing until the truck has been moving for a while (somewhere around 10miles or so) Is this true for all? Or is there just something wrong with his? I know in the 4.6 V8 F150 I have now heats up in at longest 5 min and I am in Canada where it is always cold (-40 sometimes colder).
Other question with this is can you put a car starter on one? Does it work in the winter or will I still have to go out in the morning to start it? |

sounds like your uncles truck need the thermostat replaced... all of my diesels will create heat at idle. yes you can put a remote starter on a diesel.. just have to get one made for a diesel

agreed..^^
and you say the extra mph you dont really care about. get a v10 first and then see how much you dont care. when i made the switch to a diesel from a gas f250 the mph was the best part |

as said above you can get a remote start but if you get a 05-06 you can do the high idle mod to help warm up in the mornings but you would have to go out and flip the switch. unless you got a good enough remote start system with aux outputs and get smart enough to wire the high idle mod to be acuated by the system and not a switch.
