I've had my 04 6.0 for a year. Had the oil/egr coolers replaced immediately after buying it. The engine was replaced by Ford at 39,000 miles and now has 156,000 on it. I've done maintenance religiously with Diesel Kleen every fill up.
I noticed last week it was idling almost 1,000 rpm when usually it's 6,000. I have torque pro so I checked codes and it was P0401 0404 0405. The coil on the egr valve went bad. I replaced it and now have installed the egr eliminator spool plug.
Strange thing is it runs awesome one trip, next day it has no power but suddenly runs like it's fine. This morning towing my cargo trailer it had less power then took off then back to less power. The vgt gauge is not reading like it usually does. At idle it shows high 60s. Driving it's around 39. I don't hear the turbo cycle like it used to. I'm thinking maybe stuck vanes. Would that cause the idle to increase by 300 or so?
When I finish my coffee, I'll check for codes. All I had was P0401 due to the plug.
I replaced epb valve last winter and torque pro doesn't read the epb for some reason.
