Real Dirty EGR valve

Replaced my EGR valve yesterday and man it was coked to unbelievable levels, damn thing was almost gunked over. The truck has the stats in my sig so it was sort of expected to see this degree of muck on it which is why I replaced it.

Anyhow it got me to wondering about what else could have 1/2" of crud on it, what else should I be looking at replacing or cleaning?

If you want to clean it out, you need to pull your whole intake manifold off, if you think just your EGR valve is bad you should look inside the whole intake you'll be surprised what you find.

I'm I screwing anything up by not cleaning the intake? Losing performance?

How do you clean it out?

Thanks!

Its pricey but Ford came out with the whole Induction cleaning process that cleans out your intake, intake valves etc etc. No dont think it can hurt it.

You bet you're loosing performance! coking of the intake, deposites on the valves, etc. you should be running the motorcraft cetane booster, and dont be afraid to kick that think in the rear end, um, I mean after you've deleted or upgraded the EGR cooler, and installed head studs, lol
