Fuel Filter Question

So about three four months ago put a new fuel pump in. The filter on the motor was twisting and looking bad and sure enough fuel pump went out then. Okay so today I pulled the upper filter out to change and looking twisted again. Am I losing my pump again or could it just be dirty and sucking hard cause I ran into some bad fuel?

Are you using Motorcraft fuel filters? They are the only ones you should use for the 6.0.

Generally the upper filter twisting is due to excessive pressure drop (ie plugging). This is usually due to the primary filter not filtering well enough OR bad fuel.

the best way to tell if your fuel pump is going out is to measure fuel pressure at the upper filter bowl test plug. You need 45 psig minimum (at WOT).
