what oil to run its getting cold here

ive never had a 6.0 i donno what kind of oil to use for cold weather i have a 7.3l i run amsoil 15w 40

on the 3 7.3's that i use and service we usually dont switch from 15-40 in the winter months here in iowa. and it gets cold here, all 3 of the trucks have over 200,000 miles on them and no problems yet, they always start and run... on my 6.0 daily driver i run synthetic 5-40 all year round and like it. if you wanted to you could run a CJ-4 rated 10w-30 or go to synthetic 5w-40 but if you go to the syn i would run it year round in my opinion. hope this helps man.

How cold is cold? The ams HDD has a pour point of -44F.

Block heater should also help your cold starts..I just did mine lol.

i went from 15x40 rotella to mobil 1 fully synthetic 5 x 40,
it cost more but my truck runs, starts better, and my mpgs went from 16.1 to
17.8 & thats no bull sh_ _

If the engine is mechanically sound & IF it isn't leaking oil it should be fine.
If you are leaking a bunch of oil, then it gets expensive....
