Looking for Advice on '04 6.0l
I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on a truck I'm looking at. I just got back from test driving it and it ran great, no problems.
2004 F250 4x4 Lariat Loaded 6.0/auto Xtra Cab/Long Bed Navy over Tan w/tan leather interior. Tow mirrors Running boards Husky liners Vent visors Mud flaps Goose-neck hitch installed. It needs tires. Here's the story.....the truck has 104,500 miles on it. At 96k miles the motor let go. Ford installed a BRAND NEW (not rebuilt) Motor, radiator, and starter. Owner said the oil sensor on the firewall went bad which caused coolant to mix with the oil, which caused the motor to fail. It was running just had no power. He said the bill was close to $17k for the new motor and all. The motor has right around 8k miles on it and the transmission shifted fine. As it sits today the truck is 100% stock and I was told it never had a programmer even on the original motor. He said the lowest he'll take is $16,500. Is this a fair price? What do you guys think? I've been shopping for awhile now and I've heard/seen all the horrors of the 6.0l. My friends have blown up multiple motors and had tons of problems. However, they were both turned up, one even had stacked chips. I plan on keeping this truck stock and using it as a DD and to pull my trailers with. With that said, is this motor going to be ok if I leave it alone? Or should I expect to have problems out of it as well? Any feedback is much appreciated! I would jump on it if it really did have a brand new engine installed and done by a professonal.

Yea I figured I'd ask about the receipts and if it comes with any sort of warranty. Anything else I should look out for?

doesn't sound too bad. that new motor if taken care of can last a long time. might look into studs and a EGR delete if out of warranty and you plan on pulling a lot. I bought my 2004 in april for $9300 but it does have 200k on it all original.
