I know BPD oil cooler is the way to go but came across this IPR kit and was wondering if its a good option? The 6.0 I purchased is studded and has an egr cooler upgrad, was wanting to upgrade the oil cooler as well.
As long as you use an OEM cooler with it it works pretty good, some of the guys run it with their high flow coolant filter. The biggest deal is when you stay with an oil/water cooler as opposed to the BPD oil/air cooler you run the risk of repeat failure. It's just way easier to change next time cause you moved it out of the engine valley to an external location.
I've been running the Ipr kit for last 3 year, with no problems, but I do think bpd VK688 kit is more refine kit. You can still use the stock filter, but you will have a hard time beating the Ipr performance coolant filter.
I am curious on what he has for sell today. It may be a very good setup where he went wrong was putting his setup on the market before it had bugs worked out. I remember oil temps in the 230-240 range with his setup.
Then to cap it off he posts everything has a give and take..... or some BS like that. I'm sure he hates forums today because of the mauling he endured. All of it he brought on himself I must say.
But and a big ole gigantic B U T....... His Coolant filter is in a class of its own. Every single bypass filter ever made is not even close to the IPR full flow setup. It cleaned up my cooling system to the point where it has nothing to do anymore. It just looks good now because there's nothing left for it to catch.
There's plenty of people that won't buy his stuff because of what went down with his oil cooler. But I have always seen it as foolish not to buy the IPR coolant filter over those bypass ones.
It works
Such a good write up I just made it a sticky but it was originally posted in the general diesel section
should probably be in the 6.0 area
