40s...Questions???
Ok guys, so I am gonna be putting some 40's on my truck in the next week or so I HOPE... I realize that it might be a little bit of a squeeze with my 10" of lift, so I took some pics of the wheels turned all the way in both directions to see what you guys think about them fitting?? I know that I will have to be careful at full turn like backing out of my driveway and what not, but I feel like the 40's will definately fill out my wheelwell better.
Also, are there any other concerns that I should have from going from my 38" Toyos to 40" Toyos??? I have stock gears in my truck now and it drives and pulls fine as far as I am concerned... I have the OUO driveline drop installed in my truck and have it tweaked enough to get ALMOST all of the current shutter out at takeoff. But is there anything else that I should worry about when making this change??? Any guys out there with 40's have any helpful advice or conerns of any sort?? Thanks in advance guys... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the pic that worries me the most... Thinking I might have to come up with a genius way to do some trimming possibly?? Any thoughts??? |

went from 37's sto 40's myself, got it geared 4.30, i only have an 8 inch lift, and its clears pretty good....had some trimming to do on the plastic inner fender and the truck already had bumper extentions so was pretty good. from what im told alot of it has to do with the offset of the wheels, the bigger the more problems when you turn....i rub on hard turns on my leaf springs....but its worth it to be able to run big meats

The 40s might kill your trans if your on stock gearing, that's what i have been told. I plan on switching to 4.56s. I'm on a10 in. lift and I would not have any problem switching to 40s

Looks like you may run the corner of the fender, only time will tell.

I have 39.5 tires on my truck with no problems at all.

those darn rockstars. i have the exact same problem. but i am waiting til this winter to get 40's. i would say they wont fit without trimming some fender. i think im gonna have to do the same thing. but i have seen a few that didnt look bad but have also seen some hak jobs on fenders. im going to use our band saw and take my time. let us know how it goes

I got 40's too. I have a 12 inch lift... I got the wrong back spacing so I rub on the leaf springs......... other than that I suggest a gear change to a min 4:30
