Spare tire lock gets defeated!!!!!
Ok so I searched and searched the world wide web to find a way to get my f-ing spare tire off since I don't have the lock key. One post suggested getting a easeout to get it off. I didn't have a ease out so I passed on that idea. Then I came upon a post on a forum I have never heard of saying remove the plastic tube (guide) get a 6point 9/16 socket and "gently massage" it on the lock. With a ext and a hammer. Re install the guide. Well now I have a new style lock in the form of a 3/8 drive socket. With 2 extentions it fits my ratchet and my 18 volt drill. The main issue on the keys is ford claims that their is 5 different keys and they need to see the truck to get the correct key. Now I don't know what ford charges for their key but harbor freight charges .50 for a cheap socket and now it is a lot easier for me to get it in place and use it.

i squeezed in between the top of the frame and bottom of the bed with my Matco channel locks (approx 2 feet long) and yanked the lock out and now just use my jack bar to lower the spare.
