Wouldn't a rocker arm carrier box be a valve cover?

Actually NO. The rocker arm carrier box is secured to the cylinder head by five cylinder head bolts and eight carrier box-to-cylinder head bolts (or two carrier box-to-cylinder head bolts if late model year or updated heads installed). This means the head gasket would have to changed as well in order to replace the carrier box gasket. The valve cover gaskets on a 6.0L are reuasable. Out of the hundreds of 6.0Ls I've had apart, I have NEVER had to replace the valve cover gasket.
