Tea Kettle Under Hood
So the tea kettle whistle was really driving me crazy this morning so I left the truck running and opened the hood to see what the hell was up. Once under the hood the whistle was very loud and obviously comming from the degas cap. When I put pressure on the center of the cap the whistle would stop so that led me to believe the pressure release valve was making all the racket. I have the updated cap so I put the old one back on to see if its as bad.
Any of u guys have a fix? Since I have 2 caps I might have to do alittle redneck engineering with one and see if I can get her to vent alittle quieter. |

You have way bigger issues than a bad cap. If it is venting at idle than your headgaskets are more than likely blown.

I just had them replaced about 9,000 miles ago but I didnt have my heads milled so I think I might have a warped head. I still got warranty left so Ill get it all taken care of before it runs out but as of right now the truck isnt showing and "serious" signs. Ford dealer might get suspicious if im back too soon so ill wait till I have some real problems

Just took a drive after I put the old cap back on and NO WHISTLE! So the new cap has a redesigned valve but they overlooked the fact that it is extremely noisy.
