stupid ?

I have a 2005 6.0,it runs great with no problems. But recently noticed that when at idle at a stop the fumes are quite strong. When I got the truck with 36,000mi it did not smell at all,now I have 60,000mi and the fumes are strong and when I hit it alot of smoke comes out like dark gray in color.Again it runs and idles great!!..I used diesel kleen for a while than stopped for like 6 mos and just recently started using it again figuring it would help,,any thoughts?,,thx

Mine does the same thing, I just had my EGR done like 4 days ago so i know its not that. I also just started to notice this since i have been getting close to 50k miles. I guess its finally breaking in lol.

I think its normal maybe someone else can disprove me.

If it is a strong fuel smell, mine just did that and it was the fuel pressure regulator leaking. Check the bottom of it for fuel residue. It sits right beside the oil filter housing.

they sometimes have a tendancy to crack the up pipe going to the turbo. the one on the drivers side usually. it was a TSB item before. i could see a brown area on my firewall so i knew it was cracked.
i have a pic of where to look, but its on my home computer. i will post later.

thx everybody,,its not a fuel smell.I used to be able to stand near the tail pipe and not smell much, now the fumes are just stronger now.I notice it when stopped for a light...don't see any wet spots or anything out of the ordinary..smells like when you pull up next to a delivery truck or bus with strong fumes
