ford reflash questions?

i was wondering, on the NEWEST ford reflash does it run the inductive heating before the engine is started (which is what my 06 does) or does it do it after the engine is shutoff (which an 03 that i have run around with does)? and also a friend of mine just had a new FICM put on his 05 and his does it before its started but its really faint and not as noticable of a sound. someone set me straight here please. and which one is the best one to have?

When I bought my truck last month it still had the strategy that pulsed the injectors after shutting the engine off. I had the newest flash loaded and the injectors now heat when I turn the key on.

On a separate note I would recommend getting it reflashed. My truck runs better as a whole.

The new calibration applies current pulses to the injector coils in
between injection events, which inductively heats only the
interface between spool and endcap. This causes the oil in that
critical interface to be heated MUCH more rapidly than by simply
leaving the coils on longer, as with the post-cycle calibration.
 As with Post-Cycle, this heat makes the spool valve behave as it
does when the EOT is hot. The difference is that the heating
method (Inductive vs. straight DC heat) is much faster.
 This is a permanent fix, more effective long-term than injector
replacement (since any injector can develop stiction)

Also:

- The most recent calibration flash will help reduce coking deposit formation by improving:

Shut off EGR after 5 minutes of idling. Reduces the amount of hard to combust elements in the combustion chamber.
Injection timing improvements at 1100-1800 RPM (Typical range for PTO operation/Cold Ambient Protection Idle Kicker/Battery Charge Protect Idle Kicker).
Increased exhaust pressure / VGT Duty Cycle for APCM or PTO commanded engine speeds. Maintains heat in the combustion chamber.
Higher engine temperature required for cold ambient idle kicker to switch off. Idle will remain elevated until driver input is observed by powertrain control module (PCM). Maintains heat in the combustion chamber.
Improved EGR throttle plate self test. Better control of hard to combust elements.
Exercises the VGT after "X "amount of idleing.

 Removes the oil in the spool-endcap interface
inside the injector by cycling the spool valves for 30
seconds.

 At start up, the coils are left on longer to heat & thin
the oil. The injector performs as if EOT is warm.

Your vehicle received revised engine control software to improve
engine operation by cycling the fuel injectors every time the engine is
shut off.

You will notice a soft buzzing sound from under the hood after the
ignition key is turned off. This is expected. The cycling is very difficult
to hear inside the vehicle but it can be heard from the outside. The new
software will not reduce engine life, fuel economy, or performance.
The injector cycling sound will last for 30 seconds after every engine
shut down.

Also:

This sounds like an improvement, assuming I don't already have this calibration in my 06. Being new to this -- how can I tell if I have this calibration or what calibration I have to know if I want to have this done?

That would seem like I wouldn't have it unless my truck has been updated then.

You can tell with certain kinds of tuners AND by getting an OASIS report. Other than that, I do not know how to tell for sure (other than asking your dealership to check for you).

You should be able to hear the noises described in the TSB above, but I have not checked on my truck so I can not say for sure.

bismic, what you mean by certain tuners? i got a xcal3 that i just got a month or so ago and am running innovatives tunes, i assume your talking about the strategy code??? im probably wrong but if there is a way to tell other than taking it to a dealer, i want to know. lol your post above dont make much sense, there kind of, well mixed up if you will. no offense i appreciate your responses. anyways get back to me man, later
