hey their just bought a 6.0 last week. This will be #2 for me and i love them. I'm trying to figure out if this motor has factory studs or the upgraded ones. i attached a few pictures if they help.
Ok so with my tuner set at performance with egr set to off. My coolant temp sat at a steady 188 degrees. my EOT after 15 min was 226-227 and stayed around their. so does that mean my oil cooler is out?
Well crap looks like ill be calling the dealership. Does that mean the EGR cooler is out as well? I know im going to delete it but still.. all the coolent looks fine the levels are perfect.
Pretty much any time you exceed a 15* delta it will cause some damage to the egr cooler, especially the 05+ 6.0s with the fin style egr cooler. When you go in for the delete do the oil cooler right then and there. I would in the mean time, do a good chemical flush and catch as much crap as you can in the oil cooler. Then go back in with red elc coolant and never worry about it again after you swap the cooler out.
If you are sticking the oil cooler back in the valley, just get the Ford OEM cooler. The site sponsors Tousley/Autonation or Sunrise can take care of you. Just go to the vendor forum.
If you are thinking oil cooler relocation, look at IPR or BPD.
...and look to BPD if you are ditching the OEM cooler entirely and going air-to-oil.
No emissions law here. I just have to find someone around here to install EGR delete as im not mechanically inclined as most. Thanks for all the help. at least it has head studs lol
You'd prolly do fine as long as you can take your time and have a good attention to detail.
Here is a link to a thread about my oil cooler relocation and EGR upgrade from sometime back. ...in case there is some useful piece of info buried in there somewhere for you.
Damn! Why cant I buy a 6.0 with the owner not knowing it already has studs!?!?!?!! You got LUCKY on that man. Props to you
