to change gear oil or not???? that is the question?

Well Ford says the gear oil is for life........ Anyone change it a 100K miles and think dam this stuff still looks pretty good?

I changed mine as well. Old oil looked great but its still nine years old (mines an 05). Refilled with synthetic.
That would be 11 years now......lol

Yup change it......moisture etc as well as inspection of pinion and bearing. I did my truck at 50K but it is 10 years old now.

It's a good idea.

I change my rear diff oil every 25k miles. My truck is used for heavy hauling of our 16K# 5er and reliability is paramount (I don't want to find myself stranded in the middle of the Everglades). Amsoil oil Severe Gear costs me $13 a quart so worth the coins IMO.

Looks like I'll be changing it. Will replace pinion seal as it it leaking while I'm at it this spring as soon as the driveway is melted probably late April early May.
