Power steering mods

OK when I took my truck to ford for the last oil change, they told me I need a new power steering pump. After purcasing this I did some reading about the f450's and found they have a better pump. Anybody done this kind of change?? I am able to do all the work just seeing if it is possible. Ford cant say. any help?

I don't know, but am definitely interested in the answer as well, but mine is a 99.5.

I would think that the PS pump would put out a little more "oomph" b/c of the shear weight of the F-450 and the stresses that F-450 customers put them through...but that is just a guess. Only comparing the exploded views of the two pumps could you even make an educated guess. Ask the dealer parts desk to pull one of each pumps so you can check 'em out. (Generally, if the F-450 part is more $$$...then it is a little more robust part...)

Again, I'm no expert...I'm just talking out of my butt.
