New member - maintenance Qs

Hi. I'm new to this forum. I've got a 2003 Ford F250SD Crew Cab with the 6.0L powerstroke.

I've got a question.

How in the heck do I change the belt in this beast?

I pulled a couple of the snap on shrouds on the fan and it appears that I need to remove the shroud cover that fits between the engine and the radiator shroud.

Had anyone done this?

Thanks in advance...

2003 F250SD Crew Cab, Powerstroke 6.0L, 45k miles. Bone stock...

you dont need to change the belt till 100k.......and if it is shredding, you have one of two problems. if it isnt, leave her till 100k. as far as how to do it. the easiest way is first to pull both radiator mounts from the top (two 8mm(5/16) each) to allow the one shroud to slide out easier. pull the two bolts on the shroud and carefully slide it out. then there are 4 or 5 (depending on build date) 15mm bolts holding the other shroud to the block. it will have two on the top and two on the bottom, and some build dates also have one on the drivers side almost half way down. also disconnect the electrical connector for the fan clutch. you can not take the shroud off without taking the fan off, but you can replace the belt without taking all that off, you just need the shroud to pull far enough away to get to the belt, which you get by just un bolting it............Marc
