I have been a forum reader for a long time and just wanted to post my trucks story and say thanks.
I have owned several diesels but this was my first 6.0. I bought my stock engined, 2006 FX4 Lariat (114,000 miles) at an auction. I had called the previous owner about it beforehand. Apparently it was driven through a flooded street in Houston and ingested water causing the engine to stall. PO verified water never got in the interior or carpet at all, just stalled the engine.
The dummies at the insurance company didn't even try to figure it out and just totalled it, paying off the lawyer who owned it. I brought it home and thanks to reading the great info here was able to pull the turbo and rebuild it.
While I had it taken apart, I did all the 6.0 fixes except studs. HPOP, IPR, ICP, dummy plugs, stand pipes, oil cooler, EGR delete, gutted converter, muffler delete, all filters, flushed the coolant system, changed the oil a few times to flush it, then added Rev-X. Also replaced the cab bushings and some other things.
I paid $4000 for the truck and now have a total of about $6600 in it. Even bought the AE software to verify everything's working correctly.
I now have a fine, dependable Ford F250 diesel with a perfect interior, that runs fantastic. I got most of the info here just by reading previous posts and following the links to other info. Once again thanks and glad to own another Ford.
