So i had my truck go in at FORD for a coolant leak, it was the little silicon hose on my BPD EGR cooler, got it fixed, now the coolant system is puking and is pressurized to over 16 psi when run hard on my SRL tune, got as high as 14 psi run hard on stock tune. Could Ford have done something to cause this? It didnt do this before the truck went in and honestly right off the bat i noticed the tech overfilled my coolant (by about a gallon). Truck runs great, no CEL, dont see any coolant leak other than the puking, no white smoke while driving around, etc... Truck has already had ARP studs done with oem gaskets, the heads were checked and planed. I dont ever get a delta of more than 6 degrees or so unless im really hauling butt on the highway. Any suggestions? Im having a different ford master tech (who did my ARP studs) look at the truck in a few weeks, hoping its not the head gasket otherwise im done with this thing. Question is, should i call the dealership that did the work and tell them/ have them look at it or just wait for the guy who did all my major motor work?
My guess is the hose that was leaking was probably venting off your excess pressure. As crappy as most Ford mechanics are they didn't cause it to puke out of coolant tank.
Yeah I hooked up a pressure gauge. 16 psi, I changed the cap out just because, loaded my stock tune back on and got up to 14 psi around town. Something ain't right
I just find it amazing that we all know this but the ford diesel master tech doesnt... they also never screwed my intake system back together, everything was flopping around... They are certainly not worth the money...
Overfilled. Grab a turkey baster, since your wife won't need it for a while now, and suck out coolant until it's at the correct level as stated above. Ford said where the new "full level" was but apparently they forgot to tell their techs. Its always the first thing I do after my truck has stopped by a dealer. I think they just like charging for coolant...
The truck is no longer puking, just recently removed the gauge, but when it was on there the truck was regularly at 15psi after it was warmed up. Doesnt shoot right up there, takes a while to build up the pressure. Im going to release the pressure and see if it creeps back up that high. Hope im just being paranoid, dont feel like doing head gaskets again...
