tranny temp

just wondering about around what temp should the tranny temp be. ive never heard a general area so i was just wondering.

Average should be about 180 to 190 I believe, on a hot summer day I can see about 210 or so. Your running an edge so hard to say those are a trans killer.

well my tranny stays between 120-150 it seems..... sounds low but thats where it stays

Mine too. Ive never seen it get above 160 running erics xtreme street. It also takes it a long time to get to 160. After about 2 minutes of driving the factory gauge is at the mid mark and the aftermarket gauge hasnt even budged.

I generally see 160 as well (running X street). In heavy traffic on 100 degree days, I will sometimes see a 10-15 degree jump, but it comes back down once I get back on more flowing roads.


I spoke to Ted at ID about this, he says it is normal to see these temps if you maintain the tranny properly (ie; flushing/changing filters).

i've got a 7.3L and i agree my gauge hardly ever moves. 140 is really the highest it ever gets unloaded, no matter what im doing or how hot it is!!

Im sure i could get it up a little bit if i towed a bunch

1996 f350- 615hp/1258tq uncorrected

2008 KR f350- leveled and tuned 569hp/1158tq
