sorry for trend hijack but what tag are yall reading to figure out what differential and gear sets yall have? i assume the little ones on the rear pumpkin cover, but which one of the two do you look at?
Ford has been using the sterling since the mid 80's in 3/4 ton and up applications and then in the 97+ f150 trucks with the 5.4.... It is a dead give away on the 150's to tell the engine.. The 14bolt axle is in my opinion a better over all axle. It is cheaper on parts and lockers. The sterling is close in stregnth and size though. It should be able to handle a 46" tire and 500hp.... Much more and I'd be prepared to replace parts.
