The stock 18's and 20's are 8 inch wheels with 6 inch back space. I think the 17's are 8 inch to but don't know for sure.

The info above is wrong. For leaf sprung trucks (04 and earlier), the factory backspacing is 4.5". For coil sprung trucks (05 and newer), the factory backspacing is 5"

Edited to add, that they also upgraded the brake calipers in 05 and newer trucks, so you have to run a 17" or larger wheel on the newer trucks.

back spacing is measured from the bead to the mounting flange, correct?

If you want to run the 05+ wheels on a 99-04 you'll need 2" spacers. I have platinum 20s on my 03.

Early 2003 6.0 Excursion fully bulletproofed, 155/30 injectors, KC Stage 2, and a lot of other stuff. Thanks to everyone on the forum I have learned a lot.

The EGR does to your engine what smoking does to your lungs.

Remember you can always improve on a design until the EPA gets involved.

I was actually exploring the option of running 05 rims in back and 99-04 rims in front on my 01 dually, and making it SRW
